You do everything from the browser, in a few clicks.<\/p>\n\n<h2>1. How to open File Manager<\/h2>\n<p>In the left menu, click on <strong>File management<\/strong>. What happens next depends on how many domains you have in your account:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You have multiple domains:<\/strong> first you will be shown a list of domains. Click on the domain you want to edit and immediately enter its domain <em>document root<\/em> (the main folder of that site).<\/li>\n<li><strong>You only have one domain:<\/strong> the panel skips the list and immediately opens the folder of your single domain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the example below, the account has one domain (<code>whstest.tld<\/code>), so its main folder opens immediately. It is the &quot;document root&quot;. Everything you post here becomes visible on the site. Do not place the site above that folder.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h2>2. What do you see on the screen?<\/h2>\n<p>The file list is a table with columns:<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead><tr><th>Column<\/th><th>Meaning<\/th><\/tr><\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr><td><strong>Name<\/strong><\/td><td>File or folder name. Click on the folder to enter it.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Size<\/strong><\/td><td>How much does the file take up on disk?.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Permits<\/strong><\/td><td>Access rights (chmod), for example 644 or 755. Regulates who can read, modify or execute the file.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Owner<\/strong><\/td><td>User account to which the file belongs.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Modified<\/strong><\/td><td>Date and time of last modification.<\/td><\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n<h2>3. Toolbar<\/h2>\n<p>Above the list are the main commands:<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead><tr><th>Button<\/th><th>What does it do?<\/th><\/tr><\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr><td><strong>New file<\/strong><\/td><td>Creates an empty file in the current folder.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>New folder<\/strong><\/td><td>Creates a new folder (directory).<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Send<\/strong><\/td><td>Places files from your computer in the current folder.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Bucket<\/strong><\/td><td>Opens a &quot;basket&quot; where deleted files are waiting, so you can restore them or permanently remove them.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Refresh<\/strong><\/td><td>Reloads the list (if you changed the files elsewhere).<\/td><\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n<h2>4. Actions on individual files<\/h2>\n<p>When you move the mouse over the line, icons for working with that file appear on the right side:<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead><tr><th>Action<\/th><th>Description<\/th><\/tr><\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr><td><strong>Edit<\/strong><\/td><td>Opens the built-in code editor (with syntax highlighting) for editing the file contents.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Download<\/strong><\/td><td>Saves a file to your computer.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Rename<\/strong><\/td><td>Changes the name of a file or folder.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Permits<\/strong><\/td><td>Adjusts access rights (chmod), for example 644 for file, 755 for folder.<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td><strong>Delete<\/strong><\/td><td>Sends the file to the Trash, where it can be retrieved.<\/td><\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>To work with multiple files at once, check the box to the left of the name and apply the action (for example, delete) to all marked ones.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Most common tasks<\/h2>\n\n<h3>How to create a new file<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Click &quot;New File&quot;\u201e<\/strong> in the toolbar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enter name<\/strong> (for example <code>contact.html<\/code>) and confirm on <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The file appears in the list. The full path of the file is written at the top, and the content is colored by syntax (HTML, CSS, PHP and similar).<\/li>\n<li>When you&#039;re done, click <strong>Save<\/strong>. You organize the site with folders (for example <code>pictures<\/code>, <code>css<\/code>, <code>backup<\/code>).<\/p>\n\n<h3>How to upload files from your computer<\/h3>\n<p>Click <strong>Send<\/strong> and the window of your operating system opens in which you select the files to send. They are placed in the folder that is currently open, so be sure to position yourself in the right folder before uploading.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote><p><strong>Watch out:<\/strong> for large or numerous files (for example moving an entire site) it is faster and more reliable <strong>FTP<\/strong> order. File Manager is ideal for quick, small changes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<blockquote><p><strong>Don&#039;t touch permissions unnecessarily.<\/strong> The standard is <code>644<\/code> for files and <code>755<\/code> for folders.
