Folder Privacy locks a folder on your site so that anyone who tries to open it in a browser is prompted for a username and password (HTTP Basic authentication). It is useful for test versions of the site, admin area or any content that you want only certain people to see.<\/p>\n\n

1. Overview<\/h2>\n

Open in the menu Security<\/strong> well Directory privacy<\/strong>. The table shows all protected folders with a label and username.<\/p>\n\n\n

2. How to protect a folder<\/h2>\n

  1. Click Protect directory<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Directory path:<\/strong> the folder you are locking (eg \/home\/user\/public_html\/admin<\/code>).<\/li>\n
  3. Protection label:<\/strong> the message the visitor sees in the login window.<\/li>\n
  4. Username<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> for access.<\/li>\n
  5. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    You can add multiple users to the same protected directory and remove individual users without affecting others.<\/p>\n\n
