What is DNSSEC?
What is DNSSEC? DNSSEC (DNS Security Extension) is a technology that provides mechanisms to protect against changing DNS responses and redirecting users to Internet sites that may be dangerous for them in terms of stealing personal information, credit card numbers or confidential business information, or spreading false information and news that supposedly comes from a "verified" source
Surely no one wants their website users or email messages to end up in the hands of scammers. Therefore, if you are a domain name registrant, consider implementing DNSSEC, protect your data and that of your users, and thus preserve your reputation and avoid possible financial losses.
Verification of DNS responses is performed using PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), and a DNS server that has activated DNSSEC signature validation accepts only responses that have the appropriate cryptographic key. Modern cryptographic algorithms provide a sufficient guarantee that the only valid DNS answer comes from a server that is authoritative for a given domain name and that the answer cannot be changed on the way to the user.
In order for DNSSEC to fulfill its task, two equally important prerequisites must be met:
- That the domain name is DNSSEC signed
- That Internet users use DNS servers with DNSSEC validation enabled
DNSSEC is very important to protect your domain. Keep in mind that even if you think that your domain is unimportant and that you don't have that many visits or who is going to hack me, know that hackers are not looking for the most popular ones, but on the contrary to spread their viruses and otherwise abuse the loopholes.
The negative thing if this happens is that your domain can be banned completely from all search engines and you will have various other problems if this happens. Therefore, a couple of clicks is not much at all to additionally protect the domain.
You can activate DNSSEC on your domain from our client panel by following the instructions below.
