Hotlink protection, what does it mean and how to use cPanel?

Hotlink protection can be found in cPanel under Security.
This helps us save bandwidth(bw). Let's say you have a picture priroda.jpg someone likes your picture and wants to put it on their site. He can copy the link of the image and place it on his site, and when someone visits his site and opens the page, that image appears with him, but it is actually on your account, and thus you spend bw.

This can be useful if you have an unexpected bw consumption and this can be one of the preventions.

When you open the Hotlink protections option you will see your site name and extensions immediately in the box below. These are the examples that are most often blocked, i.e. images.

You have to check under "Allow direct access", we advise you to tick it, this means that it will not be allowed for someone from another site to insert your image, but it will be allowed to open the image directly in the url, this is especially important because of the search engine (google images).

And the last field is to enter the page where they will be redirected after blocking.

Once you have set all this you can click "Submit" and then "Enable". You have successfully protected your BW.
