Instagram, the image-sharing app, will begin to display posts differently on users' feeds, shifting to the front what they think you're most interested in. This was of course met with a great deal of resentment from the users.
Facebook Inc.-owned Instagram will use an algorithm to display posts to ensure users don't miss anything the company thinks is most important to them, Instagram said in a blog post. Users miss an average of 70% posts.
The changes on Instagram are the same as on the Facebook timeline. Like any popular app when it introduces any big changes it faces a lot of criticism from its fans.
„"It's the end of Instagram," someone said on Twitter. "I'm going to start learning Snapchat," said another. Twitter Inc did a similar thing earlier this year, which was met with outrage from its users.
Instagram said the move was necessary to improve user experiences. Users will still be able to see all posts from people they follow just in a different order.
„"As Instagram grows, it becomes more difficult to keep track of all the videos and images users share," the company said. "The order of videos and images in a user's Instagram feed will be based on what interests you the most and your connection to the uploader.".
