What is a dedicated server?

Dedicated hosting is a way of distributing hosting services where the user rents an entire server that is not shared with other users. This is a much more flexible solution compared to shared hosting because the user has complete control over the entire server, including the choice of operating system, server applications, hardware, while the administration itself can be done by the hosting company (managed hosting). Dedicated servers are most often located in data centers where uninterrupted power sources, redundant services and professional support are provided. Availability, price, and knowledge of the employees most often determine the type of operating system offered on the servers. Different versions of Linux operating systems are often included in the final offer at no additional cost. Microsoft's commercial operating systems include Microsoft Windows Server, which is provided through a special licensing program.

There are several standard levels of dedicated server maintenance by hosting providers:

Fully managed (fully monitored) which includes monitoring, software updates, reboots, security patches, and system upgrades. Users do not need to have advanced IT knowledge or administration or engage third parties for these jobs.
Managed (management) represents an intermediate level of support, but part of the administration is delegated to the user
Self-managed (user management) implies a basic level of support
Unmanaged (no support) requires full user administration

Regardless of the level of support, the hosting provider will continue to provide network security, hardware resources, and all other elements necessary for the normal functioning of the hosting.

Monthly data flow represents the amount of data that is transferred from one point to another, in a certain period of time. For example, when a visitor visits an internet presentation page that is located on the server, a certain flow/transmission of data is realized as a result of the exchange of information during the review of the content of the said page. Unlike shared hosting where there are a large number of simultaneous users on one server. with dedicated hosting, one server is dedicated to only one user who has full control and exclusive rights to server traffic, processor, memory, and storage space where performance will not affect the traffic and usage patterns of other users. By purchasing a dedicated server, you get a hosting solution that will be adjusted according to your needs.
