On August 20, 2018, .win went up in price from 300 dinars to 1350 dinars. Although since it was created for many years, it kept a very low price, which affected many who have some service or some test sites, now the price has changed that significantly.
There was no indication that the price would change, although it was said that the price of .win would become regular and permanent, and there were no announcements by the registrant about the price change, it still happened.
Those who renewed the domain before August 20 could renew it at the old cheap price of 300 dinars from August 20 this year, the renewal price is higher than the registration price itself.
Of course, this price is unsustainable because everyone who used .win used it because of the low price that did not change for years and instilled security, but now that has changed, so now everyone has to choose the option that is best for them.
There are two options in this case, to pay for the very expensive renovation (for 1000 dinars more), in this case you can also wait for the last day so that they don't accidentally come to their senses and return the prices to what they were. Because in that case you certainly don't lose anything because you still decided to renew.
Another option is to switch to another domain that is also cheap and redirect from your .win domain to that new one. Of course, if this is the option you choose, choose a more stable domain such as .com .net .info .org. Rs. The price of .in.rs is 500 dinars, so you can think about that option, even if it becomes more expensive sometime in the future (the price is dictated by RNIDS - Register of the National Internet Domain of Serbia), it will certainly not be twice as expensive.
On the side domain price list you will find that a bunch of domains that were also cheap bundled with .win are not anymore. This is a huge change for anyone who has been using other cheap extensions.
Our recommendation:
if you have more than 2 weeks left until the expiration date, buy a new domain (example .in.rs) and redirect from your .win domain to .in.rs.
