How do I take a screenshot?

Video instruction windows screenshot

When contacting us, for faster and easier communication, our clients send a screenshot themselves or we ask for a screenshot of the screen so that we can see where they are and what is open to them so that we can explain what and how.

It often happens that the client, not knowing an easier method, takes a phone picture of the screen, opens our website, calls livechat and sends that picture.
The first problem with that is that the image is huge, 4-5mb minimum depending on the camera the phone has.
Another problem is that everything is distorted and it is difficult to see anything.
The third problem is that what he considers important may have been painted and not what is actually needed.

Taking a screenshot on your computer is now extremely easy (one click literally).

There are a huge number of add-ons for browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Opera...) that add an icon next to the address line and when you click it, it takes a screenshot of the current screen and that's it. Depending on the plugin, some offer a link to send to someone immediately, some offer to download, but in both cases, that's all you need.

Chrome extensions

For chrome, here's an example (search for it, there are certainly better ones, but that's less important):

Firefox extensions

For Firefox, a couple of examples, but the same applies, install several of them and choose the one that suits you best:

In addition to the browser in windows there is a tool called Snipping Tool (newer versions of windows is Snip And Sketch) which also allows you to take a screenshot of the screen, parts of the page just like plugins. Where you later save that image and send it to someone as a file.

The benefits of these tools are that it is done with one click, the images are extremely small 150kb compared to 4000-5000kb and are far better seen.

These tools also allow you to draw, so you can underline, hide some information if you don't want anyone to see it, write a comment and much more.
